Bridget is now on a roll she losing weight, smoking less, drinking less and is in a relationship with the dashing Daniel, whom she thinks is a god. He starts to send her suggestive e-mails that soon lead to a dinner date proposition. After being snubbed by Mark, Daniel begins to take notice to Bridget and her tiny skirt. Plot point one starts when Bridget returns to work after the holidays.
He is handsome, charming and popular so of course, Bridget thinks that she is completely out of his league. This is when we are introduced to Daniel Cleaver. She also vows to find a nice sensible man to settle down with, and to stop fantasizing about her boss Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant). To help her achieve this goal she makes resolutions to reduce her intake of alcohol and cigarettes, and loose twenty pounds. Protagonist Analysis: Bridget Jones is a lonely, single, mid aged woman who sees many things wrong with her life. During this time she decides that she will not allow herself to be alone next New Years Eve. After this we see Bridget alone in her apartment and very drunk.
At first she is interested but she takes against him later when she overhears him belittle her. This time however, she is introduced to a handsome human-rights lawyer named Mark Darcy.
Like always, Pam tries to set Bridget up with some dull middle-aged man. Bridget is attending their annual New Years dinner. In the first act of Bridget Jones's Diary we are introduced to Bridget and her old fashioned parents, Pam and Colin.
